The International Trade Alliance (ITA) is a non-profit economic development organization of the Spokane Region. The ITA provides essential information on international trade, trends, and support programs for its members. The ITA mission is to develop and expand international markets and trade for businesses while enhancing the image and competitiveness of the region as an international community with global attitude, awareness and communication strategies. They provide support to their members through business seminars and conferences, contacts within the international community, and a quarterly newsletter.

The Spokane Airport Board obtained a Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) Designation in 1997. This site includes Spokane Intl. Airport, Airport Bsns. Park, and Felts Field Airport. This designation allows businesses to import components subject to high duty rates, integrate them into final products in the FTZ, and allows the duty on them to be assessed at the lower rate applicable to the final product. U.S. Export Assistance Centers (USEAC)
The U.S. Commercial Service's USEACs can help experienced and new exporters identify and qualify leads for potential buyers, distributors, joint venture partners and licensees from both private and public sources. The extensive USEAC network of domestic and international commercial offices attached to U.S. Embassies can help reach 95% of current markets for U.S. products. USEAC Offices combine the export promotion and finance services of the U.S. Commercial / U.S. Dept. of Commerce, the Export Finance Assistance Center of Washington and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Area Colleges
Many colleges offer undergraduate and graduate level classes in international trade. Those in the area include Eastern Washington University, Gonzaga University, Washington State University and Whitworth College, all of which have very active international programs.

TradeNet Export Advisor is an SBA-led, interagency Internet site designed to provide ‘one-stop’ access to international trade information for America’s small businesses. Access a wide range of trade information from government and industry, including export market research, export laws, business opportunities, financing information, federal forms, and trade shows and events.

These can range from credit and liability risks with unknown customers to workers' compensation laws, which can vary widely.

ATA Carnet 
The United States Council for International Business advances the global interests of American companies doing business internationally through the ATA Carnet System. ATA Carnet is an international customs document, the Merchandise Passport that facilitates temporary imports (those returning within 12 months) into foreign countries. It reduces costs to the exporter, simplifies customs procedures, and facilitates reentry to the U.S.
